Share Your Story. Preserve our history

As we approach 100 years, we want to look back at the voices that built Bishop State Community College. Stories of triumph, perseverance, and sacrifice that allowed us to break past barriers and be proud to call ourselves Bishop State Alumni.

In honor of this, we have partnered with Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) to help us collect your stories and stay connected with you. PCI will also assist us in updating your biographic information to ensure our records are current as you continue along your life's journey.

After the collection is complete, these stories will be compiled into a book celebrating our alma mater and the unique history we share.

"There's no perfect story, just yours"

How it Works

Alumni will receive a postcard or email from PCI (Publishing Concepts, Inc.) with details on how to participate and share their story. Stories will be collected via a phone call with a trained PCI representative who will share unique information about Bishop State's history and guide you through the process. Calls typically take 15 to 20 minutes — no preparation needed, just a friendly conversation.

FAQ's

I received an email/postcard/phone call asking for my personal information and a story about my experience at Southwest State Technical College/Carver State Technical College/Bishop State Community College. Tell me more about the project.

We have partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce an Oral History Publication for Bishop State Community College, which will be inclusive of alumni from each of the above schools. PCI is a family owned business based in Dallas, TX that has published directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities, and military organizations across the nation for over 100 years. This project allows us to hear about your personal experiences from your time at the College and how the College helped shape your life since then. And, while we have you on the phone, we want to make sure your contact information is up to date.

I only attended for a short time and didn't graduate. Can I still participate?

Absolutely. Your time at Bishop State matters regardless of how long you were here or what credential you earned. Every Wildcat's story is welcome.

Does Bishop State Community College benefit from this at all?

Yes, in a few different ways:

· Updated Information – allows us to effectively communicate with and engage alumni

· Legacy – sharing and collecting stories preserves the history of our Institution

· Revenue – generates non-dues revenue for alumni programs

Your story will be recorded and the sound clip provided to the College at the conclusion of the project.
